Took a loooong time to make up that back piece. :eek1: The front was easy, I just used a diff cover for the pattern. Scratched my head a bit trying to figure out a good way to make a template/pattern for the back.

Tomorrow nights project will be taking the drums/hubs off so I can do something about the open ends of the truss.

As long as my buddy doesnt flake out on delivering the 4runner to me, I should be able to get some pictrures by the end of the weekend. Hope to have the 14b installed in the 4runner on temp. leaf springs by Sunday.:D

No sweat. I just did a search for threads started by you as I remember reading it as well.

So at least now you know the thread fairy didn't steal it:rolleyes:

ha! I wondered who was gonna be the 1st to ask....It's not for air. its the axle breather/vent thing. It was almost 10pm, and it was the last thing I had to do before welding the truss down and going home. Nothing was open for parts, so I just took two of those steel air fittings I had, cut the threads off and welded them together. Burned a quick hole with the plaz, and welded the fitting into the hole. A piece of 3/8" rubber fuel line cut to length, from the vent on the housing to the fitting on the inside of the truss. Another piece of 3/8" fuel line will hose clamp to the fitting on the outside, and run up to the inside of the rig probably. Took about 20 minutes, and didn't really turn out that bad. Form follows function as far as I'm concerned. :wink1:

And I bet none else has one like it. :haha: :haha: :haha: :D

I'm lookin for 12-14" of seperation between lowers and uppers when I link it. It'll have big ass tires, 47"+, and high crawl ratio...lots of leverage. Thats why it's as high as it is. 4 1/4" thick...That wasn't really planned. Just turned out that way because of the material I used. As for weight, made of 1/4" plate, prolly 40lbs. No so bad. I'll make that up by loosing the drums. I am planning a tribute to Dozer and Willyswanter in one of the big open spaces. That will loose a bit of weight. I'm also going to tie the truss into the pinion support housing for a little more strength. Diff cover too. I want it to hold up to a jump or two without exploding, thats why it's all uber beefed.:haha:

So you building a 4runner? I keep thinking about doing one. Either that or a 4dr S10 blazer. More family friendly.

I'll keep an out for more of your posts.

After cleaning about 5lbs of rat **** out of it, and a pressure washing, this is what i'm workin with-

Not bad for no cash out of my pocket. :eek1: :deal: The interior was pretty much all there and all in great shape, except for the rat piss. :1zhelp: All of the carpet and seats got a deep cleaning with the 3000psi pressure washer and alooot of simple green. Worked out pretty good. I'm going to put it all back in there for the most part, would be nice to have a some what comfy interior. Except for the dash and center console....my buddy wanted the entire stock dash assembly, gauge cluster etc...there was even a thing in the center of the dash with an incline-o-meter thing....I guess it was a pretty rare option, so my buddy wanted it of course....so custom dash and centersole it is! Well, I probably more like a big dash/centersole/tranny hump thing. Kinda like the interior of an H1, but on a smaller scale. :)

Not quite. ORU (Off Road Unlimited) did this to their 14FF on their yellow '57 Chevy, Big Bird. It was done several years ago, too.

Let me get this straight...ORU, Off Road Unlimited, took two old ass rusty steel airline (MALE) quick disconects, cut the threads off, welded them end to end, and used them to extend a axle breather line? And they did this on a rig that was popular enough that you know about it? :haha:

No, I meant the truss, not the breather tube.
