14b yoke question????

when i bought my 14b originally, i didnt have any u-joint straps for it. a guy on here was nice enough to send me a set, but i just tried puttin my driveshaft on, and the straps are the right size, but the bolts go in, but once 1/2 way in they become very hard, and it starting to wear down the threads on the bolts. the axle is from a '76 k20, and i was wondering if maybe my problem was that it was ment for u-bolts, not straps. did 14b ever come with u-bolt style yokes?

ive had 5 of them a 84,74,76,79,81 and none had u bolt style yokes. Maybe, but not the years i have and they were all stock runners

hmm, any idea why the threads on the bolts would start to strip when im tightening it up??

maybe its messed up and i need a new yoke :-/

first get new gm straps and bolts. then get tap and chase out the holes. i have to do it to lots of vehicles at work. then good coat of light oil and install.

good point, i do have a tap and die set i bought to redo a bunch of other bolt holes.

i just drilled mine and ran new bolts all the way through. workin great for me
