14BFF Chromoly shafts!!

I got some more info on that axles. This is the email the guy that has them sent me.

Long Side Measures 40”s and I think we cut it down to 38.5”s – Short Side measures 35”s and cut it down to 32.5”s. I’ll sell the Long side for $250. no Shipping. The short side I’ll sell for $260.+shipping. They are Yukon 1540 series Alloy Axles, Not 4340. 4340 is hardened so much that it could snap due to the “SIDE LOAD” that the 14 Bolt FF is capable of producing. So a softer compound is used to absorb a bit of that torture… But still much stronger than the OE Axle’s makeup.

If someone is interested in them both and needs them shipped you can just send him the money for the axles and I will ship them for you. I think he doesnt want to mess with shipping since he is so busy.

Someone should tell the guy that the only stress that a FF axle see's is tortional. There is no "side load" on a FF axle of any kind.

Most manufacturers of aftermarket axles don't make rear shaft out of Chromo because chromo doesn't do as well with SF loading. I believe FF shafts fall victim to this and get made out of the same stuff as SF shafts.

Also most aftermarket guys who do produce chromo rear FF shafts do so but in double spined shafts.
