I need to helicoil a bolt hole in my 14BFF diff - can anyone quickly confirm if those those bolts are 3/8"-16 or not?

They should be, the socket used to remove them is a 9/16" which is found on 3/8" bolts and they are definately course threads.
Absolutely are 3/8-16. I always tap to the bottom of the holes with a plug tap & bottom tap and use longer then normal bolts. Better thread engagement.
