2 Questions here. I need to know what the name of the piece behind the E-Brake Adjuster arm is called. Its similar in size and is the one the cable actually connects to. The passenger side on this axle has one, but when we took the driver side apart the cable was just hanging inside the drum. I've been to Napa and got part# 80865, adjuster repair kit, but it only has the front arm. Also, I've got the new hardware kit for both brakes and its not in there either. They're telling me they can't find anything in the computer that references the rear lever.

Also, the carrier and ring gear have a lot of rust. It looked this axle got some water in it and than was left to sit for a couple of years. Lots of goopy rusty stuff came out of the tubes when we took it apart. I don't think the residual pitting on the housing, shafts, and tubes will be a big deal once its cleaned-up. But, I'm wondering if the carrier and R&P might need a little more attention.

Thanks in advance.

Not exactly sure what piece you are looking at. Point an arrow to it. I have a few backing plates sitting on the side of my house. I might be able to get you the part.

The big lever that the cable hooks to. Now that I'm looking at it, I need the long piece on the right that forks on both ends and connects the lever to the brake shoe as well. If you got them, let me know what you'd need to send them up to DFW, zip 76051. Thanks.

Parking Brake Lever... :D Seriously.

The piece that spans the distance between the lever and the opposite shoe is the Parking Brake Strut.

Those pieces were the ones I couldn't buy at a parts store when I rebuilt my rear 10-bolt brakes recently. I got EVERYTHING else, but not that. I just took a wire brush to mine, cleaned them as good as I could, and wiped a very thin layer of chassis grease on them to prevent further corrosion. I'm sure there's something better I could've used, but the chassis grease was on-hand.

If you don't have these parts a junkyard may be the only option. I didn't check availability for a 14BFF.

That makes sense, lets keep all the brakes parts needed for a complete rebuild except for 2 in production. Stoopid idiots.

Maybe I can build some up with my revolutionary fabrication skills. The parts I need to replicate off the passenger side, a little modeling clay and enough JB weld to fill in the mold and I'll be in business.

I was repeatedly told that

Seriously, just get something usable from a junk truck if possible. Certainly someone on here who's running no e-brake, or converted to discs will have them.

Post in the Parts Wanted section. I'd bet money you'll have parts on the way by week's end for the price of shipping.

I wanted my brakes to be "all new"...NO used parts. I drove myself nuts for a while then said 'screw it' and cleaned up the e-brake parts and installed 'em.
