14BFF from 75 K20 into a 90 V1500

This weekend i'm picking up a front D44 and rear 14BFF that is coming out of a 70's K20. Since it is a 3/4 ton i'm guessing that the spring perches in the rear will be at the right width already, or is there a difference from the 70's and 80's on that?

Bolt on.
 
Should be the same everywhere except that later calipers use a metric banjo bolt instead of standard.

You won't even notice this unless you mix and match calipers.
 
Internally, the 3/4 ton caliper will have a larger piston than the 1/2 ton caliper. This will affect your front/rear balance. If you keep your 1/2 ton calipers you may wind up with the rear axle locking up first while braking.
 
Plan on doing a disk swap in the rear and putting the largest brakes possible up front to slow this wild beast down.

Also Hyrdroboost and bigger MC are in the plans.


If i'm correct the early ABS on my 1990 is just for the rear axle only right? where is the sensor for this? I looked on my rear axle when I first go the truck but couldn't see an ABS sensor anywhere.

Cool, I just wanted to make sure you did your research in the brake department. :thumb:

IIRC, that "ABS" system only measures the deflection of the rear springs (to judge weight balance between front and rear). It's not really ABS, it's just a self-adjusting proportioning valve. You should see a sensor on the back axle housing (but not at the hubs where you would normally find ABS sensors).
 
Ahhh sweet got ya.

So if I just unplug it when I put the new axles in it will still work just like an old school system right?
