14BFF G80 Gov loc......

I have a 14BFF G80 gov loc in my dually. Today it started "crunching" while turning into a parking spot on dry pavement. I know the thing is toast, but dont have the money to completely replace it with a better diff.

I was wondering if there is a place i can go to get a rebuild kit for the gov loc.

Its a 14 bolt full floater, and it hasnt blown up the carrier YET, and i have stopped driving it. I would like to NOT spend $1000 repairing it.

Its a street truck that only sees 4x4 at low speeds in snow, and usually never spins a tire.

the local ones around here don't have any they will part out and they want $900-$1200 for a complete one

You can take them apart and remove the components so it will function just like an open carrier. If your spiders are fine, that's your best bet. I have a decent actuator and the remainder of the components minus the ramp and clutches. If you need them, you can have them for the couple dollars it would cost to ship them.

ebay has lots of used ones.

and you can swap it your self . the 14ff is super easy to play with. best axle to learn how to do it on.

not to p!ss on just chevy trucks but his prices are crazy on lots of stuff.

keep your eye open. i have seen lots of used on there from time to time.

or go with open carrier and pick up a detroit and be done with it for ever.
