14bff pinion bearing snap ring??

I am in the process of building up my 14bff, tonight I tried taking out the pinion bearing but there is a snap ring type thing that holds the bearing in there, except the snapring doesnt have anyhting to grab with the pliers, it is just a circle with a little gap in the middle.
so I just smashed the bearing so I could get some pliers on the snap ring, I got it out but then I was thinking, Does the master install kits come with this?? If not where can I get a new one??

im lookin at a Master install kit for a 14bff right now and i see nothing that looks like a snap ring

which bearing are you talking about? I don't remember any snap rings on the pinion. There is a big one inside the bearing hub, but that is the only one I can think of.

You mean the bearing in the housing? For the pinion snout?

yea sorry I mean the pinion support bearing inside the housing.

Not sure what year 14bff you're working on but my 85 14bff doesn't have any snap ring like you are describing anywhere. The only snap ring in my 14bff is in the hub that holds the outer bearing race in place and then further out that holds the adjustment for the wheel bearings. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
