My K5 has a 14bolt out of an 82 K20 in it with a Greatlakesoffroad disc conversion. There is gear oil leak that is coming from the axle tube in the space between the hub and tube and getting on the brake rotor. I bought the axle with the conversion already done, never done anything to the axle except put oil in it. Does anyone know what seal is leaking, and if there is anything different about changing the seal out since it has the the disc conversion done on it? If I have been to vague about the location I can take pictures.

Just looked in my 1989 Unit Repair Manual and it appears to be an axle seal. Unfortunately it tells me to refer to the "proper service manual" for all disassembly and assembly except for stuff inside the pumpkin. Anyone know if the torque specs are different on a 1996 14bff. My dad has the full shop manuals for those year trucks and suburbans.

Most of those housings have hundreds of thousand of miles on them and leak even after replacing the seal as a groove wears into them. If that's the case, most auto parts stores can order a sleave that you can install to cover up the worn area of the housing. Since it has rear disc brakes, it is pretty straightforward and should only take an hour or so to do.
