14bff spool????

dont know if its the best place to get a spool, may be the only place right now --- sandy cone of cone engineering.

is 46 spline though. (stock is 30). custom axle shafts are a must, which sandy can supply.

i dont think i want to know how much that would cost.

ryan,

Randy's Ring and Pinion carries one. Search on Pirate, plenty of places sell one that uses the stock 30 spline shafts.

Put a spool from Randy's in my 14 bolt about a month ago. Haven't got a chance to wheel it yet. Pretty heavy duty. Do a search on here, I put up a couple pics.

I remember that. It was a Yukon spool, right? It looked plenty beefy too.

would a mini spool be hard to install compared to a detroit?

For a 14 bolt it'd be exactly the same procedure except you don't have to take the wingnut on the detroit out at the end.

I think Sandy Cone offers two types of spools for the 14FF. One is a mini spool that works with a stock 14FF(30 spline). And then he lists one on his site that is 46 spline. Not sure if that one is a full or mini.......

There's a guy on ebay that sells the Yukon full spools. I think they are aroudn $220-$240 now.

what is the best way to go about welding it and not worring about breaking it?

Basically, make a solid metal ball out of the spider gears. Essentially the same thing as a mini spool except home made. I wouldn't recommend doing it like they do in the tech article here because a couple people have broken them that way.

txfireman- Yes, it was a Yukon spool. Not too worried about breaking it. :D

Yeah, by the looks of it you could run over a land mine, blow you rig to smithereens ... and all that would be left would be that spool. :wink1: :D
