So we have two salvage yards here that are u pick its. One has two g30 sport vans, do these have 14 bolts? If the do, are they usable for my k5?

k5 bolt in swap 14ff = 3/4 ton pickup truck and 4wd .
k5 bolt in swap 14ff light mods = 3/4 ton pickup 2wd for shock mounts going the wrong way .
all others = cut off spring perches and weld on new better ones to the correct spring pad width for 1/2 and 3/4 ton . shock mounts also .
g30 van IF full floater = score as there the widest ones of the 14ff fam. only if you want your track width the same front to back with a dana 60 front .

otherwise for the most part grab one and go for it .

if planning on disc brake rear swap at some point go newer up to last year 2010 with factory rear disc brakes WITH e-brake setup built in . still = spring perch redo and shock mounts . also metric wheel studs so new lug nuts just for that axle .

if going for detroit locker at some point you need open diff rear NOT gov-loc . but the gov-loc in 14ff are strong units NOT like there little pain in the arss brothers that love to go BOOM

I swear you're stalking me lol. The years are 93 and 95. All the guts would get swapped, maybe to an elocker and better gears.

I had never thought about the track width, but I was aware of the new spring perches n shock mounts. Maybe I'll get lucky and one will be 4wd so I can get my shopping list shortened lol

o.k. if 88-up body style stick with brake drum on back side of wheel hub . still std disk brake kits used .

if brake drum is pop off the front of hub THERE NOT many kits for them . the bearing spacing and spindle is different .

last i knew its ARB/ZIP/detroit / mabye one other for selectable on 14ff yet .

i dont stalk i LIVE here !

I'm starting the process of tracking down axles for swap. If I understand your post correctly then a 14 bolt ff out of a 2wd will need the shock mounts moved but everything else will be correct? I'm looking at a 14 bolt ff from a 1978 2wd dump truck(non dually) for my 1977 k5 blazer.

yep 2wd the mounts are on the wrong sides of the axle if i recall correctly .

and measure the spring pads on the axle to be 100% sure .

easy way to spot a true 1ton setup is the shocks are inside the frame rails . the 1/2 and 3/4 ton stuff is outside the frame rails .

welcome to the site . nice people here and as you found tons of good correct info .
