Can i put 4.88 gears on a carrier that had 4.11?

Yes, but you'll have to buy gears made specifically for that situation. The carrier break on a 14-bolt FF is between 4.11 and 4.56. You can buy 4.88's made with an extra thick ring gear to make up for the difference.

Strangely enough, it's probably easier for you to go over 4.56 than it is for me. When I was sniffing around for 5.13s, I found out that everyone had them in "thick" gears (what you need on a 4.10 carrier). But I couldn't find them in "standard". I had several (including Randy's) tell me to switch to a 4.10 carrier! One place claimed to have "OEM gears" but I have no idea whether that was real or not.
