14bolt converted to front

i've seen this axle on craigslist.personally i think it would be cheaper to DIY.and you would have to get reverse cut ring & pinion gears.

You could run it on the coast side. Either way, you'd still have to have some axle shafts custom made.

I think the consensus is, there are better and probably cheaper ways to come up with a good front axle.

this is really random and not even related to the topic.im a noob to my K5 and to CK5.but is there anyway that i can remove the clump of AC. components on my firewall and still retain the factory heater/defrost.the previous already broke off a piece of the AC. and i dont want to spend the money repairing it when i can spend $30 on a ac delete pulley and a couple hours tearing/changing parts.any help would be grateful.

look here noob, you cant be posting questions all over Gods green earth if its not a semi related question.

No need for special gears, it'd run just fine. Xtreme4x4 did do this on their Scrambler and it worked out fine. I'm sure you could go to the Powerblock web site (or whatever it is) and replay episodes.

ah thanks. so you couldnt have it under power??

Yes, you could have it under power. No different then when you put your truck in reverse. The gears get turned the opposite direction, on the coast side.

that link wont let me watch it.

No need to watch it, if you read the credits on that page it says respline of stock D60 shafts to fit 30 spline 14b housing, it's enough to say:rolleyes:
The weakness in the D60 is usually the shafts not the gears, if they used stock D60 shafts, all they did with the 14b housing is reduce clearance.
Stupid in my opinion.

QFE. It's not the D60 housing that break. I do believe the host does say in the show, that they just wanted to be different. :haha:

i remember having this discussion before..it was said all GM front ends drive on the coast side of the gears..i asked if reverse rotation gears in a regular housing would drive on the drive side and was told no..so...yea has been discussed
