I left my repair manual at the shop. Can someone tell me the sequence for how the hub/axle nuts are supposed to be tightened on my 14 bolt full floater?

In case I'm using the wrong title for the nuts, I'm talking about the nuts that hold the drum onto the spindle. Perhaps they're called spindle nuts. There's 2 of them with a gnarly looking locking-tab washer between them.

Also, what's the torque specs for bolting the axle shaft to the hub?

Haynes manual:

- Torque to 50 ft lbs, while rotating the hub.
- Back off nut and re-tighten to 35 ft lbs, then back off 1/4 turn.

- Install nut retainer
- Torque outer nut to 65 ft. lbs. This should provide .001 to .010 in. of end play.
- Bend tabs.

Done.

The outer nut is a judgement call.
Some people torquee it to 65, some people do 100.....

Info from 14BFF Bible

115 for the axle shaft to hub bolts. Their should also be a gasket in between them IIRC

This from a thread i posted on when i was doing this a while back

According to my Haynes manual torque to 50 ft lbs, while rotating the hub. Back off nut and re-tighten to 35 ft lbs, then back off 1/4 turn.

Install nut retainer and torque outer nut to 65 ft. lbs. This should provide .001 to .010 in. of end play.

Axle flange bolts torque to 90ft lbs up 1975, For 76-79 torque to 115 ft. lbs.

I'm afraid for anything newr you'll need a manual for newer trucks than mine.

I still have the gaskets, so we're good there. Thanks for the torque #.
