all you all who did the swap, did you move the perches in?

i heard something about ratcheting them in to sit, then bolt em on. good/bad?

have 14boltSF now, just tryin ta do homework:crazy:

A 14ff from a 1 ton matches the spring perch spacing of 69-72 blazers (40 1/2" center to center) and a 14ff from a 3/4 ton matches the spring perch spacing of 73-91 blazers (42 1/2" center to center).

k, my FF is from a 1 ton, i will have to move my perches i guess.

1)can i reuse the ones cut off?

2)can i avoid this buy ratcheting them to fit?

thanks!

1) Depends on how neatly you cut them off.

2) No, you cannot ratchet the springs together 2 1/2" to make it fit. Also the shock mounts will need to be removed and swapped as well since the 1 ton axle has the perches on the wrong sides of the tubes.

maybe stupid question, but have you measured from shackle to shackle on your truck? I know its a frankenchevy so maybe the frame used might match up to the axle you sourced. just throwin it out.. PEACE!!

69-72 blazer requires a 1 ton 14FF for the spring perches to be correct.
73-91 blazer requires a 3/4 ton 14FF for the spring perches to be correct.

My 14bff came form a 1ton and I had to move my perches. Best advise is to cut the perches off on the one ton and grind the axle smooth. Then BUY new perches and relocate to the right place. its alot easier and neater and faster than trying to save the ones you cut off. Also put the axle under the truck first to align up where to put the perches, plus you can get the correct pinion angle. bolt up the perches loosely to the axle and springs, find your angle and measurement between springs. I also cut my shock mounts off the axle to relocate them to the opposite sides of the axle. I reused the old mounts but I am cutting them back off cause I do not like how they look and buying new mounts from a member, which they originally came from ruffstuff.

I hope this helps you some.

I actually cut my old perches off my one ton axle and reused them cause the factory perches are beefy

well the original shock mounts wernt in the greatest shape, lots of deep pitting from rust. But when I cut them off, theres just not alot of beef to get good attachment. I welded them on for now, but the new ones just came in last night, so if I can get a change I will install the new ones.

I would just buy weld on pearches from Ruffstuff specialties, there cheap and heavy duty.

DO NOT REUSE UBOLTS

search this stuff. bad things can happen .

thay are a strech bolt basicly and 1 time use. your life and others is not worth it in the end.

I have some cast ones I cut off, not too bad.

You could just weld these on and not have to cut yours off if you want.

12 bucks shipped and they are yours.
