I was looking to get a 14sf axle for my jimmy and was wondering if any knew if this will work. Guy sent me pics and said it was for a mid 90's 2500 truck 6 lug. Beside moving the perches and shock mounts ( which I have to do anyway so I dont need 8 degree shims) does anyone know if the ebrake cables will work? are the axles the same width? Will 15" rims work with these axles? this guy said he bought it new and never got a chance to install.
Im looking for the 14sf cause I want to keep the 6 lug and this is more of a street jimmy. I have the truck to wheel with. plus was looking to do something different then what i did to my truck.

That the same rear end I have in my 74. I think I torched all the brackets off and bought new spring preaches. I set the rear end in my blazer and set the pinion angle where I wanted it and had the housing centered and tack it in place. I then took it out and welded it fully. This was done with stock suspension. I wished I had my lift then because I added the shims when I lifted my Blazer.
Sorry for the crappy pic.

I have one in my '71 and it works great.

The 10 bolt cables may work, but not sure. The 14 bolt cables should work with a little enginuity.

The 14 bolt will be about 4 inches wider, about the same width as the front end.

Don't be ashamed of the "small" 14 bolt they are extremely strong once the stock carrier is replaced with an aftermarket posi or detroit. The additional ground clearance over a big 14 is a nice bonus as well.

agreed

yea it has 4.11 in it already so I was going to throw in a detroit and chrome axles like my truck and call it good. going to be a bit overkill because Im only running 33's and maybe 35's one day. This will see mostly street with light trail runs when more people want to go than my truck will accommodate.

I'm running a detroited 6 lug 14sf under my K5. No issues for my uses. I converted disk brakes so I can't help you on the parking brakes. You should be able to measue and find out pretty quick. I wrote up a "tech article" to submit but I cant get the pictures to upload on site. I just has the information I've found.

Got one of the 14SF 6 lugs in my truck.

Got mine already converted (poorly) for an earlier C/K, but the brake cables were stock.

Stock 15" wheels bolted right on, but the center hole/flange on the axle isn't close to right, since the later trucks used a much smaller "hub hole". Doesn't matter from what I've been able to tell, those 14MM studs are beefy. Ah yes, another problem, mismatched front/rear lugs, but not a big deal, they work with the stock older wheels.

The wheel cylinders had a different fitting angle at least compared to the 10 bolt it was replacing.

I plan to drill my front rotors in the future to make it 14mm all around.

14SF 6 lug came in two widths. The wider (which matches the width of a 10 bolt Front) came under IFS 4x4s. The narrower by about 3", from a 2 wheel drive(matches the width of the factory 10bolt rear). I'm running the 2 wheel drive rear with spacers. The 4x4 14SF 6 lug is impossible to find here.

Sweet good info. I ran into a free 89 3/4 ton 4x4 burb with a 8 lug 14B SF and was wondering if it was a good upgrade for my K5. The locker and 4.88's the match the front will cost but I'll do the whole 8 lug conversion and snag some good parts off and spares off of it. Then it will be an easy swap if I run into a nice D60 for the front down the road. Will my Warn manual hubs work with the 8 lug hubs or are they different. Sorr not to hijack but Some people say don't bother with the SF 14B and you guys speak highly of them.....

i have a 14ff in my truck. when you are only gonna run 33 or 35 on the street mainly with light wheeling putting in a ff doesnt make much sense for the added weight and loss of groun clearance. The sf will be fin still heavyier than the 10b but not that big of a loss of ground clearance.
