I am swapping out a busted old ten bolt in a 90 k5 at work. Its all going just fine except I am having trouble for the parking brake aspect of it. It is something I overlooked in the original estimate and I do have my fingers crossed this will be easy. It is something that went POOF! In my head last night and I dont think I know the answer to it.

The axle is an 88-98 6 lug so my knowledge says that the park cable styles are different and another thing makes me ask since its a 90, they may actually be the same.

anyone have any insight to this particular situation? the cables are visually different in structure but I didnt pay enough attention to the backing plate before. The axle and blazer are currently not in the same building or I think this would be easier.

When i pulled the 12b out of the 77, i used the brake cables off the truck and routed them for the 14bsf backing plates. The cable end itself is the same.

Where the cable comes through the backing plate and locks in is different. I drilled the backing plate, then did some fine clean up with the dremel to keep the fit tight so those little onerous locking tabs would stay in place

I re-used my old cable from the 10 bolt to the 14SF. Just study it all before clipping things. I've been using mine for a few years now with no issue.

1990 k5 e brake cable into a 98 14bsf 6 lug. It also appears the shoes and drum hdw are the same. They sure look like it.

I used 14mm et shank spline lug nuts to match the front stock lugs. All lugs use the same socket now without a stud change.

I'm late to tell you what you already found out.....

The brakes and cables swap over.

I changed the studs to 1/2" so that I would feel better in my mind that I had the same amount of taper from the lug nut contacting the seat in the wheels.
I also bought some studs for the front, but they require drilling to fit.

I need to do this as well.
