Wanting to upgrade from 1/2 ton 10 bolt to 14bsf 3/4 ton. Prefer 88-98 6 lug. I will relocate the spring pads and shock mounts. Does not have to have a locker, but won't hurt. 4.10 gears.
The 14bsf rear ends, here in Kansas, sell for $1000-$1200. What gives?
I've read on this site you can get them for as low as $75 from someone on here.
PM or e-mail, let me know what's available.

Well I don;t know about $75, this is the price the 8 lug 14bsf goes for sometimes, $75 to $200 usually.
The 6 lug can fetch a higher price and I have seen people pay from $200 to $750 for one but never seen anyone pay more.
Any junkyard will sell one to you for $500 to $750 if they have them.
Check your local yards or wait for someone here to sell one.

I paid $100 for mine in Virginia at Pick n Pull. Local 4x4 shop wanted $1000. Now I am looking for one closer to here and can't come up with much. For the price of shipping you could probably make a small road trip.

I have a 14bsf (3.42) may have gov lock in it- not sure.I will be taking out of my 85 3/4. I live in michigan. Right now I am looking for a th350 np203 tranfer case for the doubler kit, I maybe in for trade?

The 10 bolts on my K5 have the 3:42 gears, and I'm looking for a 14bsf with 4:10's, 6 lug.
I'm going to go from 32" tires to 34"s and need the 4:10 gears.
Since this K5 won't see any extreme wheeling, it might be more cost effective to regear the 10b's, and put a locker in the rear.
The prices for the 14bsf in this state = loan for a second mortgage.

I know it would be a bit of a drive, but there are a couple of u-pull-it's in Kansas City that used to charge the same for an axle whether it was a 1/2 ton or a 1 ton. One of them is on Truman Road just off of I-435. I used to go there when I lived in Missouri and they had some pretty good deals. :D
