Well last week I made the road trip to North Georgia and brought back a 1978 K5 that my buddy gave me. (free)IMG_20161030_151634778_HDR.jpgThe K5 has a broken front axle shaft....no big deal. I was driving around and thought of a guy thats local who has a bunch of old trucks around his house. I decided to stop and ask about axles. The guy says he has a set of gm 3/4 axles, says they are 14 bolt full floater and a 10 bolt. I looked at them but the front axle was upside down in-between some cars and I couldn't see it.
I showed back up today with my trailer/$300 in hand. The gentleman moves the cars with the forklift and picks up the axles. I then realized that this 10 bolt as the guy said....is a Dana 44 with flat top knuckles...... sweet!!!IMG_20161104_173457943.jpg IMG_20161104_183741602.jpg

gov-loc rear also . decent deal in the end for sure .

how the ratios front/rear ? matched ? deep like 4.10 or 4.56
Both axles are 4.10's. I got the cover off the 44 and it has been welded but does have warn premium hubs.... I started pulling things apart to put new u-joints/hardware in before installing.

I guess I need to get a few more photos and start a post in the driveway build. I don't believe I did one 10 years ago, just asked a few questions.
