i couldnt tell you, when i bought the axle from K5Drager's cousin, it didnt have either on it.
is there a way i could tell???

If it is strap style, the holes will be threaded, if u-bolt style, the holes will be
open(unthreaded).

sorry dude, its the strap design.
AFAIK GM never made a 1350 14ff yoke with U-bolts, they were all strap type and from what i've read and have been told there isn't enough "meat" to properly drill out and use a U-bolt.
