The 14FF has a carrier break between 4.10 and 4.56 ratios. Does anybody know how to determine which carrier you have without a ring gear to go off of?? I am wondering if there is a difference in the thickness of the ring gear mounting flange or if the mounting flange stays the same thickness, but is just moved over some.
This carrier is *supposedly* a 4.10 and down carrier, but I do not want to press new bearings on it just to find out that it is a 4.56 up. If there is a thickness difference in the mounting surface, does anybody have a "known" carrier that they could measure to see if mine is what it is supposed to be??
Here is what I have; the two halves sitting together (not bolted obviously--nor cleaned for that matter) and an overall thickness of the two halves put together of approximately 1.072". Now there is probably a bit of fudge factor in this measurement being they are not bolted and there could be some dust/whatnot on the mating surfaces. This dimension is from a bolt mounting surface to the ring gear mounting surface.
