Anyone heard of these ww.RightGear.com (I don't think product listed on website yet) 14FF disc brake brackets that allow you to use 2002 and up GM rear discs with integral park brake? Saw it FourWheeler July 2011 p. 95 'Parts Rack' section but no real info given. Are the integral park brake on these 2002+ OEM GM calipers any good (for those of us who need an emergency/park brake feature)?

that would be amazing to say the least
but really sucky if you already have the other brackets and calipers :(

Those newer cars/trucks are drum in hat like old corvettes. Basically theres a mini drum inside the the flange part of the disc. If that kit is good I would love to use that.

I have the 14BFF w/ discs & drum-in-hat parking break in my Avalanche. It does a good job holding my truck (even with a 9500# trailer). The only bad thing with this system is that if you have to replace the pads it is a PIA to take apart the hubs to get to the components.

I am on the lookout for an 11.5FF from an HD truck to swap into the Avy, then I would swap my detroit & gears (from my current axle in the K5) into the newer housing and run that in the Blazer....

I am interested to see if this kit becomes competitive w/ the eldorado caliper conversion as far as cost/reliability...

High angle driveline can solve your parking break woes... lol :D

I was talking with TSM a couple of days ago, they are working on a manual parking brake to go on a 14-Bolt. They said, it would accept the std GM disk brake pads in their new bracket.
I'm not sure how much longer, until they hit the market. From what I gather, they will be manually adjusted unlike what is currently available and if they are only used as a parking brake you/we should not be needing to adjust them every week either.
You can call them, ask for Cliff tell him Dave sent ya. And no I have no ties with them. Just looking for this same option for my 14 Bolt FF.

wonder how bad the mud would destroy them??? if mud gets in there.. do they just get crudded up and not work and wear the pads out?

also drive line brake like that is not street legal in NJ.. i was going to go that route when i had d44 calipers on.. but nope... so got eldo calipers for $45 shipped for the pair with levers and springs:whistle:

Is anything legal in NJ?

On topic, I've always found it funny that you guys with state inspections complain about California smog law! Sure we gotta have our emissions checked every two years, but we have no other inspections (save being pulled over for traffic violations), so bumper height, lighting, lift, etc, we can do whatever we want.

If the state told me how tall or short my truck must be, I'd go crazy...

It would be interesting to get more info on this. I kow with time and age those late model e-brakes get pretty rusty around here. After 70K or so it can be very difficult to get the rear rotors off.

So what does NJ do about trucks that have factory driveline brakes like my 3500HD?

If the truck came with it as factory equipment, then its ok. Also here in NJ trucks 10,001lbs to 17,999lbs fall under self inspection as far as safety and mechanical stuff.

And yes Jersey does have some ****ed up lift laws :doah:. The really make no sense at all.

my goal is to eventually end up with a crew cab that are usualyl 12k gvrw (from my findings here and posts)... then yeah oh well....

back to OP... those look good.. i like the idea of 2002 calipers.. however... im not sure mud would play nice in those drum ebrakes.... im still thinking the $10 pads that I have will just keep getting replaced...

but definitely let us know if you get anywhere with this... i want to know how well they work... as for ebrake... i leave it in gear but have the levers so when the inspection guy hits the ebrake it works.. but they dont check.. could spring load the cable and they would be happy...

im just going to do line locks for the times the truck is running and i need a all wheel ebrake..

i got a question conserning late model 14BFF axle.

i have a 1999 1 ton van axle that came with factory drums, now would it be possible to take the rear discs and brackets off a newer chevy with rear disc and drums parking brake, and swap it on to my axle and everything just bolt up.

well that sucks, i was hoping for a direct bolt on conversion, owell the search continues lol

we all would like that.. but know these solutions dont exist.. pffffft.. what would you want to do a direct bolt on for anyway? if so everyone would do this!!!!!!!!!!!! even go carts and mopeds would have drum assist ebrake calipers on them!!!!!!!!!!!!
