What is the most common gear ratio in 14ff it is in a 1976 truck if that helps anything

The ratio is stamped on the ring gear....all you have to do is pull the cover and write down all the numbers you see and post them here.....

Then you will KNOW for sure what the ratio is!

BTW -> I currently have two 14BFF's one has 4.10, and the other has 3.73

Military axles (CUCV) most commonly have 4.56s, I think.

the most common ratio i have seen is 4.10.ive checked out 2 or 3 at the junk yard and all three had this ratio.i also had a friend with 14 bolt and 4.10.

i've also noticed that (2wd)trucks with the I-6 292 engine and sm465 tranny came with 4.56s. not certain if all but the ones that i've found do have the 4.56s
also 2 out of 3 K20 disels that i've run across came with 3.73s.

ARQ.

i found 4.10 locking in a 76 454 auto 3/4 ton even though stamping on axle tube said 3.73 - it was incorrect/false stamping, also i once had had a stamping code that said 4.10 on an '85 9.5" and I opened it up and it was actually 3.42....
