So after waiting a few days to get my new ubolts for the 14ff rear, I get it up there only to notice that the spring perches are a full 3" narrower than the 12 bolt. Any reason I have never seen this on anyone else's 14ff swap? Should I just use a come along and pull the springs together and try to make it fit? Or do I have to cut the perches and reweld them? Any help would be MUCH appreciated, thanks.

Ok, just searched around and I guess the 1 ton version is narrower... sigh.

Please, God, do NOT squeeze the springs together to make them fit!....

lol, i just thought that maybe the angle was off or something, so i was like.. maybe springs need to move a bit...

Will it be okay to weld this up with a MIG using the .35 wire? Or is a mig too small for this job?

It'll be fine...

EDIT: Beat me to it... somehow even though we both posted at the same time :)

A mig will do it if you know what you are doing, and have welded a good amount before. Just don't plan to go buy a welder and weld it up safely your first time running a bead.

Mig is fine but i'm 200% sure you wont find any .35" wire anywhere, .035" on the other hand is perfect. :D

ya ya ya, lol. I am not gonna do it myself. I have a welding class that starts in sep at the local college, after i get through that I am going to choose what welder to buy. Then I will be doing everything myself.

Or you could sell the one you have and pick up another one that will fit for around 100.00 and be done.

If you have them , can you use the spring hangers and shackles from a 1 ton and bolt them to the frame?

I cut mine off and then picked up some new ones at the local speed shop. I used my MIG with .035 wire and they aren't going anywhere.

Took it to a shop, traded the guy some spare parts for him to weld new perches on. Should have it back tonight.

Did you have him move the shock brackets also? Those are also on the wrong side of the tubes and opposite of where they need to be.
