well no spark, so i picked up a new magneto B&S part, set it all up .010 gap, fires up only on one cylinder, but a cheap mag off of an auction site $15 free shipping. Install with .010 gap boom starts up bot cylinders hitting great, reassemble the big red monster mow the front lawn 20-30 min. then no spark :dunno: push big red into the shed and their it sits. could this be a grounding problem? stator? stator cable?:dunno:. any soild ideas would be :waytogo:

I get the feeling this isn't a Chevy truck?

Yeah, wrong forum, maybe even the wrong website!..

But maybe I can help anyway..

I've read on a garden tractor pulling website that tells how to adapt electronic ignitions from cars to small gas engines, that some 2 cylinder small engines using one magneto style coil with 2 plug wires, often die young, because they cant handle the strain of firing both plugs with a .030 gap..the coil actually finds an easier path to ground internally, and refuses to fire one or both plugs, because it "sees" a gap of .060 and it finds it easier to jump to ground inside itself, than fire the plugs, especially if they are old and or fouled..which burns out the secondary windings..

They say to reduce the gaps to .015 on each plug and it will take a lot of the load off the coil and you will not even be able to detect much difference in how the engine runs with the smaller gaps..
I have a 20 HP Kohler twin that does run much better with the plugs gapped at .015 instead of .030..

I just wish someone would post a link to discount designer fragrances, shoes and inexpensive iPhones....

I was thinking it was that, but googling the OP only puts it on a forum about B&S small motors, so it might be legit. Usually googling the random off-topic vague posts finds like fifty instances of them on different forums, so we know they're spam right off.

We'll see once they reach five posts :deal:
