14SF>to>FF conversion?

I don't mind the 'jack, and I haden't thought of crags list yet:rolleyes:, but 1 of those was just for a set of gears:p:
With 2 new resorses to check out now, any one know if a FF will "bolt in" in place of the SF? And if so what years should I be looking for? (if there is any diferance)

I just helped my friend in Oakridge Oregon swap out his 14SF for a 14FF. He got an two entire parts trucks for $150, and we're converting his 2wd IFS diesel automatic into a 4wd straight axle 4-speed stick shift. The only thing we've had to buy for the entire project was bolts and bushings. We're also giving it a 4" lift with 52's in the front and a shackle flip in the rear. The best part is, that he'll actually MAKE money off the whole project by selling all the leftover parts.

When I lived in Oregon, I actually found it EASIER to do things "on the cheap" than I do here in Washington. It all just depends on how resourceful you are. I can tell you one thing, I rarely ever set foot in a junkyard for any fullsize chevy parts. There's just no need. I just picked up my 14-bolt, a set of 52" springs, a 2wd steering box for crossover, and a set of four E-rated tires mounted and balanced on 16" rims; all in great shape, and all for $100! You just gotta keep looking. Heck, I'd even buy one up here and bring it down to you if you found one in washington you needed. I'll be headed to Oakridge on the 22nd...

Oh, and yes, the 14bff was a direct swap with the 14bsf. As long as you're swapping in a 3/4 ton to replace a 3/4 ton, then you shouldn't have to do anything special.

Hey thanks for the offer man:smile1: I will keep it in mind. And I will keep shoping for a FF, if I get lucky I might get a 60 for the front along with it:laugh:

How much do rear D60's cost? A FF conversion of a 14s/f would pretty much be a rear D60 anyway.

The issue in my mind isn't strength, but availability of replacement parts.
