OK... time for new wheels. I found the 44s, now I need the rims.

I will be putting 15s on and I would like steelies so that I can go with weld on bead locks.

What kind of backspacing is needed with a Dana 60 front?

I used to have some other rims that were 15s that I used to grind the caliper sown, but they were stolen and I never measured the backspacing on them.

Depends on how much you want to grind...you can easily go with 4 1/8" BS, but you'll be grinding for a while. I ran 3 5/8" BS and that took a fair bit of grinding too.

I think you gotta go with 2.5" of BS to almost avoid grinding. I prefer to keep the tires tucked in a bit more than that though.

I have already ground the calipers... quiet a bit to fit my old wheels. Then someone decided they needed them more than me. I probably wouldnt have ground the calipers if I was getting new wheels. But, I already had a wheel tire combo that I bought used.... and now that is gone. So, I ground for nothing.

I also like the tires tucked in. So, I am thinking around 4 inches of backspacing then. I ground for a while with the old wheels. It rained the night that I did it. And, I didnt sweep up when I was done.
The entire driveway was a rust puddle from the grinding dust. :haha:

New house with a dirt driveway now.
