ok. I have searched through here and tried to find a thread, so sorry if someone has already answered this.

I have put a set of 15x10s on a front D60 before, but had to grind down the calipers. I know there are a few companies out there that make conversions to allow the use of 15" wheels but they are out of my price range. What are some cost effective ways of fitting 15x10s on a D60 front without caliper mods? (wanting 3.5-4.5 backspacing)

thanks,

Justin

Some people use 3/4 ton calipers instead of the big 1 ton ones.

Most just grind them, but fitting 15x10's with 4.5" backspacing is probably too much.

let's say i put on 3/4 ton calipers... and on a 14boltFF i used a cadillac swap... will my existing break system agree with that? will be runnin 42s

thanks for the input

Justin

1/2 ton and 3/4 ton calipers and pads are the same. The 1 tons have much bigger rotors and pads.

1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, and 1 tons each use their own rotors (11.xx", 12.5", 13" in that order, IIRC).

I have never run Caddy calipers, but I have heard first hand from a couple people that they suck. I would do something else for an e-brake, unless you can get the caddy calipers really cheap.

Will these truck see street time? If you are going to drive it on the street, I don't think it will be safe with anything less than the 1 ton setup.

The one ton brakes are really good. Some people have good luck with the stock master cylinder, 1 ton axles with discs in the rear (myself included) while some people have to switch to hydroboost to have good brakes.

42" tires take a lot of effort to stop ;)

You just can't simply bolt-on 3/4 ton calipers on a front D60, and for that matter if you used the stock 1-ton rotor I still doubt that 15's with normal backspacing would fit without grinding. Most likely the "kits" you refer to that allow 15" wheels have new caliper brackets and such that are needed to fit the smaller calipers and rotors.

Basically the options for running 15" wheels on a front D60 are:

1. grind the calipers
2. buy, or fabricate, new calipers mounts and whatever else is needed to run smaller calipers and rotors
3. use 15" rims with less backspacing...2.5" range
