15\" Wheels on a 14FF.....Did a search but I need to know quick

I did a quick search, but couldn't find what I needed. I have a 14FF and a corporate 10bolt 8 lug. The 14FF has a SkyManufacturing disc brake kit on it with 3/4 ton rotors and calipers on it.Currently I'm running 16"'s on it and I wanna drop down to 15"'s. Does anyone know what backspacing I need on it to clear them. Is there any grinding that will have to be done? Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Nah, just someone wants my 16"s and 15" have more tire choices

I think 2.5" bs is what you want /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif but I pretty sure your still going to have to grind the calipers.

On the front or back? I would have thought that the Disc brake would have helped clear them on the rear. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

You can run 3.5" back space on the rear no problem. I think you can run any back space on the rear disk convertion. You will have to ground down the front 10 bolt calipers to run 3" or more. I had 3.5" and had to ground my 3/4 ton 10 bolt. I hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

My 15 X 10's have a 4.25" BS and fit fine on the rear of my disked 14BFF. I have Echobit brackets and regular 3/4 4X4 calipers. I did have to lightly grind ONE of the calipers. The castings differed just enough that I had to take off the casting flash from one of them. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Yes I know he's doing it on a disc converted 14. It said so in his post that I responded to that you then responded to me to point that out that it was a 14.

The only important part of the whole question was the diameter of the rotor and what caliper he's using and the rim diameter. The axle it's on does not matter in the least at this point as the rotor/caliper combo determins the clearence needs.

I showed him a link where it was done on a D60 and a D60 has a larger caliper and rotor so he could see just how big it can be done. It gives a nice detailed discription of clearencing as well. It also noted that Russ used a 4 inch back space 15 inch rim. It also goes into the different rims available that would fit the rotors with out modification and the pros and cons of each. The guy already has decided on the tires he would like to use so thats not of much use to him but I figured that link would cover all the bases on questions he might have. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks for the link Grim. I didn't even think about that post, yesterday was a long day. /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif
