1500 dd swaps?

how hard is it to convert to 8 lug on a ifs rig (96-98)? i got a 1996 chevy 1500. i have a possible 2500 96 to buy for 700 bucks. the axles worth my time swaping it all to 8 lug? only thing wrong with this truck is the engine and bed. I probably wont do it just wondering. thanks guys

The rear is an easy swap, but the front is not... I've heard that a great deal of fabrication, welding etc is required to put a 3/4 ton or 1 ton front suspension under a 1/2 ton.
