FYI I just got a set of 15x8 eight lug 4.25 backspacing and tryed them on my 90 Blazer which has a 74 Dana 44 flat top knuckle front end using the 90 metric calipers and they fit! The only spot they rub is on the caliper bracket and very little. Clearance between the wheel and caliper is about the thickness of a piece of cardboard.

EDIT: Please read entire thread as when I ground down the calipers the wheel flexed down and calipers did need grinding.

Well I've read about a bizillion threads that say the 15 inch wheel is fine on a 14 bolt. But now I may test fit the rear before I have the tires mounted...

Here too, 15x10's 4.25BS on my 10 and 14 (fit both drums and discs on the 14ff). Swapped in the D60, now some major grinding but will fit.

Yep same setup here... 15x10 4.25" BS and they fit fine on the 14ff... I had to grind a while on the front though.

Have to ask, did you tighten down all of the lug nuts and make sure they were fully seated? Or did you just slide the wheel over the studs and go from there.

I'm wondering that too. I had to grind on my '90 calipers for my 15x8 wheels w/4.25 bs to fit. I removed about 1/8th of an inch.

Yes that was tighentened down.

Strange how there are so many differant answers here. Only two things I can think of is "wheels' and 'calipers". From what I have read the old SAE 3/4 ton calipers seem to need more grinding then the metric 1/2 ton calipers. But then it could be the brand of wheel.

Interesting, I had the 15x10's from Summit with 4.25" BS (should fit identically when it comes to over the caliper) and had to grind a decent amount on the caliper and backing plate on my '90 with those calipers on it. The reason I asked if they were seated and tightened is that when I was grinding the calipers I was just sliding the wheels on and hand tightening the lugs, they would spin free but when actually torqueing the lugs down they would seat better and then rub.

Another thing I notice on your link is that in one space it lists the BS as 3.75", and then at the bottom is states 4.25" BS. See cut and paste below.

I re-used the '90 1/2 ton calipers and the wheels are U.S. Wheel whitespokes that I had powdercoated black.

I did tighten four bolts while working on them, when finished I installed all eight lugs and had no change.

I did call and ask and they said they are 4.25 back space. I can measure later. I was really looking for less back spacing but no one can get the US wheel as they are all back ordered. The reason I went with 8 inch is I plan to add bead locks later...

Also upon grinding the high points of the caliper bracket down to clear, the castings of the caliper did hit. But it was very minimal grinding, more like smoothing.

Something else I noticed is the bracket and possibly caliper need to be ground to the angle of the wheel, not flat across...

Finished the other side today and I can say the differences are in the calipers. Although they are both the metric thread that come on a 90 Blazer one needed smoothing and the other one needed LOTS of grinding. Both caliper brackets were about the same.

I measured the wheels and they are 4.25 backspacing.

I guess I shouldn't complain about the little bit of grinding I had to do to fit 15 inch wheels cause now I have to trim to fit 37's with a 2 1/2 inch lift... :haha:
