hey guys,
i am getting ready to trow some new meats on the burb. swamper ssr radials. size: 37x12.50-15.

i am debating about rims size, and i know both wheels will work, but right now i can get a deal on 15x8 rock crawler black steels for 185 for the seat. or i can pay quite a bit more for some 15x10s what do you guys think i should do?

what are the pros and cons.
thanks

depends on the look you like with the 8 it will act more of like a bead lock buy pulling the beads in and also create a more bulged side wall tire and could make the tire more sloppy when driving. So when you turn the wheel at speed it feel mush or aired down. If you dont ever plan on going bigger tires get the 8 but if you do get 10"s.

what size rim to them recommend for that tire size??? like stated above, if you even remotely plan on goin wider n the future, go with the 10", otherwise, the 8" should be fine...

The 8 is plenty wide for a 12.50 tire, and I think works better all around especially off-road. The only reason to run 10's with that size tire is for looks (I do think they look better). You can definitely put wider tires on a 8" rim, and several guys in our club including myself and 78Buford run various heights of 15.5 wide tires on 8" rims. They work great off-road, but probably not optimal for street driving though 78Buford has driven his truck on highway several times 4+ hours away to trails with no issues.

I run 42 14.50 17 on a 17x9 rim they are sucked in but i like it and as stated works way better offroad.
I also run 33 12.50 15 on my bronco with a factory wheel 7 wide i think it buldges also but once again offroad awesome. It is also a daily driver and i tow with it no issues.

thanks for the replys guys, but am i going to have any issue with blowing a bead off when i air down on the trials

nope it just all depnds on tire psi and driving style i run 18 on the street and 8 or ten off road

Go with the 8's. The narrower width will actually help keep it on the bead.

Poor man's beadlock = WIDE tire on narrow rim. IE 44's or 42's on 7-8" wide wheels.

I agree with the others, a wide tire on a narrow rims will stay beaded much better at low pressures. I used to 13.50 wide tires on 10" wide rims (and no, they were not 16.5's) and debeaded them rather frequently even at 18-20 psi on the trail. My current tires are 15.50 wide on 8" rims and have no issues at 10 psi so far, and I'm pretty sure 78Buford has never debeaded a tire either running single digits psi in a 7,000 lb. big block powered truck.
