So I'm getting ready to do the 8 lug switcheroo and I am about to order my wheels in two days. I can get either 15x8's or 15x10's for about the same price. My BS options are 3.75 or 4.25. Ill be wrapping them around my 36x12.5 TSL radials.

Now my question is where is my wheel going to be at with an 8 in vs a 10in? Doesnt reducing rim width 2 inches put the tire 1in closer? I want my tires to be in my wheel wells basically but I thought the 8in would add a little height to my tire. What do you think I should go for?

8" will help your tires stay on the beads at lower pressures, and matches a 12.5" wide tire well. If you were running 14.5's I might say 10's but for 12.5's I would/have done 8's with no problems.

x2 on the 8" wide wheels for a 12.5" wide tire.

If you want your tires to stay more or less inside the fender, get the 4.25" backspacing wheels.

4.125 is stock roughly. If you want just a hair more width then stock go with the 3.75" rims. I ran 4.125" BS rims with mine for years and it did well. I have recently switched tire and rim combo's though and my BS is even higher then stock (4.5-4.75" BS). It works ok but I rockrash the crap out of hubs.

agreed. i spent half the day today reseating beads on a 10 inch wide rim. i eventually threw the spare on which was on a 8 inch rims and didnt blow that thing off once.

but i think the tire sits, looks, and performs better on the 10 inch rim. i had 38 12.50s on a 8 inch rim for a while. looked like pizza cutters. the tire basically rode on the center thread. eventually went to 10 inch wides. yeah the tire stuck out like 2inchs more but it had a way wider foot print and actually seemed to perform better

Good point there on the truly larger tire sizes , which always seems to be closer to the stated size .

The smaller tire sizes from 31-36 , they look short and wide on a 10 inch rim , making the tires shorter , when the point of larger tires is ground clearance :doah:
