Has there been any discussion on 16.5" rims vs 16" vs 17" rims? I'm trying to decide if i should keep the 16.5"s i have now or would it be worthwhile to switch to a 16" or 17" rim for better tire selections. Any advice, I searched but nothing came up unless I'm not wording it right. :dunno:

your 16.5"s are notorious for losing beads, with semi low tire pressures. You could go the hummer route, and run double bead locks.

Interco still has a decent selection for 16.5" rims.

Need more info, Do you wheel your truck a lot? Or is it mainly used on the street? If you are offroad, are you mainly in rocks? or just Light trail use? Sand? Mud?

My $.02,... unless you have some 16.5's that you really like and are in great shape I would go the 16 or 17 route. The tire selection for 16.5's surley isn't going to get any better and with a better bead design and selection of wheels them selves I think the 16 or 17 choice is the way to go.

But again, it can depend on what you are doing with the rig .

I have a set of 35" bfg's for a 16.5 right now that ill eventually put on but I'll eventually need new tires and I noticed that 17"s have alot of choices for tire's and i don't really want to get a set of 8 lug 15" rims. As far as wheeling goes that's up in the air as they've shut down alot of the places I used to go play in. Mainly street driving for now with a little bit of mudding every now and then.

May aswell just get some 17"s down the line... atleast that way, if you ever decide to go with a 60 front, you wont have to grind the calipers, like you would with 15"s
