16 yr old w/ 84 4x4 blazer problems

I talked to him last night and he said he has a 350 and he just spent a bunch of money going through it replacing plugs, wires, etc. So as far as I know all of the replaceables are replaced on the engine. Around here, we dont have much in the way of rock crawlimg, so if he keeps his foot on the gas, he should be okay.

I've got an awesome idea.....

Since there have already been a couple of guys in this thread who seem to be in your neighborhood, you should try to meet up with them "in person" to see their trucks and get a ride too.

Talking about a lifted truck on bias-ply tires is one thing....driving in one is quite another. It might really help you to identify what you want vs. what you are willing to put up with in terms of road manners, noise, vibration, etc.

I will also echo the sentiment offered earlier.....SLOW DOWN!!! I understand the excitement about wanting to just tear into that new project and start throwing money at it.....but a little patience and research NOW will save you a lot of aggravation and money LATER.

:usaflag:

ps. What I wouldn't give to know what I know now, and be 16 again!! :D

oo and as far as the budget goes, i have close to 6 grand put up to dump into it, my local 4x4 parts store said they would do me a 16 inch lift and a 3 inch body with new drive shafts and ever thing i need for 1800, that a good price or could i save doing it myself?

16" lift?!:eek1: ....i no being up high is cool and all but that doesnt have much function...u cant really wheel with a truck that big besides going throuh mud pits...if u have 6k to drop into it...id go with some 1 ton axels (14bff and D60) then get some 6"-8" BDS springs as a base to work off of....then u can get all the cool gadgets(lockers, crossover steering etc.). i have a 6" with 38.5 tsl's and i have a 2" body lift im putting on with zero rates...that seems to be perfect for me...i also daily drive mine...its nice and tall...functions awesome on the trails and i still can get it....im not trying to kill ur dreams...but 16 is a little....on the high side:crazy: ...but im glad u got a k5, good luck man

THAT is the BEST advice EVER!!! Im pretty sure i've wasted a buncha money on this truck so far. AAl to run 33s:doah: Tires look WAY too small. Now i gotta wait and raise money for 35's and gears.

Truthfully DONT run boggers on the road. just run a set of 35 or 38 BFG M/t and get headers w/straight pipes past the T-case into dual flowmaster super 40s then downpipes. Sound likea bat outa hell.:D Dont run a 3" body lift it'll mess up your steering linkages and stuff plus it looks like ****.

just my 0.02
