I recently did a 1 ton swap on my K10, and I am running stocker 16 x 6.75" steelies with used 37x12.5r16 SSR's. It is almost time for new treads, but I have a set of Jackman 16.5" wheels that are about 10" wide, would it be more economical to get 37" tires to fit those, or to just go buy new 37's with new & wider 16" wheels?

i'd just wait for a good tire deal to appear on craigslist or pirate or whatever and go from there unless you have something specific you wanted, which it doesn't sound like...

I remember something about 16.5's not holding the back bead well when running low pressure. If you never plan on running lower pressure then prob not a problem.

maybe someone else can shep some more light on this?

16's will get you more tire options in this day and age. 16.5's are dying off.

there's no "lip" inside the wheel to help keep the tire bead in place. if you wheel your rig then 16.5's aren't recommended unless you make beadlocks out of em.

Go with the 16's. I have a heck of a time trying to get stuff for 16.5's at a decent price, and the prices keep going up. BFG and others are offering less in the 16.5.

16.5 don't have a safety bead on to hold the tire on at low pressure. The only reason to get 16.5 is if you have hummer wheels. Otherwise 16.5 will leave you stranded at the beach. I had a set at one time and I couldn't keep the tire on rim. Never again will I buy a set.

It sounds like I'll go with a steel 16" wheel. I want an SSR's, IROK's or M16's, and don't want to go beadlocks yet. Thanks for the help!
