I have been having trouble figuring out what backspacing I need to run and where to find a set of rims that provides it. Here's the set up that the wheels will be going on (once I get the axles under the Jimmy):
87 GMC Jimmy 3-4" lift D60/14BFF
37x12.50 R17 Cooper Discoverer STT's
Would 17x9 inch rims with 4.5" backspacing work? I keep seeing people say that 3.75-4" of backspacing would be ideal but, all I can find is 4.5-5" of backspacing, is there something I am missing here, where does one find 17x9's with 4" of backspacing? BTW in the future plans, I may want to run something in the way of a 40, 41x14.50R17, or 42" tire after the 37's wear out so I want a rim that will still be okay for that size so I don't have to buy rims again. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks everybody!:D

problem is,that most 17" and up rims are designed to fit the 88 and up body style, they have a little more offset compared to the 73-87 models.

h2 wheels are 17s

I've got some H2's but, I getting nervous about running them since they are 5.5 inch backspacing (IIRC) so, I think I'm going to try to find something that'll give me less backspacing. I've been hearing that 1.5" spacers would be necessary to run the H2's up front, and I'd really rather not have to worry about all that. So, I think a different set of rims is in order. Thanks though!

k204door runs h2s with no spacers...so does cbbr

I think k204door runs 315/70 R17's or so though? I've never seen CBBR's rig, I'll have to look it up. My concern is if the 37's will clear the frame, springs, steering box, whatever they might hit. Also, do they run stock steering or crossover? Thanks!

cbbr runs 37s and i think b to c does to...cbbr was running stock push/pull and just now put on crossover....ive never heard any problems...but if you want i will take the h2s off your hands

37x12.5x17 MT/R's on Walker Evans 17x9" beadlocks with 4.5" backspacing. 3" of lift with a D60 and 14ff. It works fine with just a little bit of rubbing on the back of the front inner fender when the tire is stuffed and turning. I am only running the stock bump stops up front too.

Yep, I ran them with 37's, stock steering and no spacers without a problem on 5" of lift and just a little cutting for the flares.

That is a sharp K5:D.
I just missed (earlier) some H2 wheels bye 10 minutes so the seller says :doah:. $200 for 4 takeoffs, seems to be a common enough price. Anyways I went to Discount Tire here in town and bought steel wagon wheels 17x9 4.5"bs (only option I found as well) black for $320. To mount my tires, center caps and lugs w/locks, the whole pckg = $492.42 OTD:o. I am still watching for those H2s though and wont have mine mounted till next week when the wheels come in.
Post up some pics of yours blowedupmotor87 when you get them mounted:waytogo:.

Sounds crazy, but I've just asked folks at the store/mall/etc that have Hummers (and have aftermarket wheels), "Hey, want to sell your stock rims". The 3 or 4 folks I've asked all said yes.

Might be worth a try. Probably get 'em cheap.
