17" wheels for 40" MTR's

Re: 17\" wheels for 40\" MTR\'s

I think Scott is out of the wheel business. I looked on his site yesterday after seeing this post the first time. Could not find wheels. Just the beadlock kits. I knew he was having problems finding a reliable supplier. Might check out Pete Paulson Wheels. Not sure what his web address is. Had good luck w/some Vette ralleys a few yrs ago.

Re: 17\" wheels for 40\" MTR\'s

OK I have found the place to get custome wheels. Even dbl beadlocks. Its from Staz Works over on the PBB. He said he will make my wheels to my specs and ANY center design that I can think of for around $100 ea!!!!!!! and they will be very quick to build. Everyone on PBB recomends him. If I knew how to post a link I would. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yeah ok now that I look, that link you posted didn't have it in there, but Staz works is the guy that was linked on PBB before. The double civilion locks posted.

I found a place that will give them to me for $325 and mounting and balancing will be free so I am having a hard time turning that down. I have been concidering the 15" wheel and 37's but I know that I will want bigger soon.

good deal on the MTRs. personally, if u know ur gonna wanna go bigger anyway, Id just get some 42" TSLs on cheapo 15" rims. Still a heck of a lot less $. When you get 17" rims and 40" MTRs.. if you want bigger tires someday what will you get? do they even make anything for 17" rims bigger than a 40?

Warning: hijack.
rodzzilla: what do you think of his doubler? I am thinking of using his so I can just use my 27 spline stuff.

Re: 17\" wheels for 40\" MTR\'s

I went through this same heartburn about a month ago, and finally settled on the new 39.5" IROKs in a 16" rim size and saved like $ 600 bucks for a set of 5. I was ready to spend the extra for the 40" MTRs, but then also having to spend the extra for the 17" rims went way over my budget. Maybe if enough of us keep bitchin, somebody will start making affordable 17" rims in something other than 5" backspacing. One thing I did find out though...the new Hummer H2 rims which are 17" x 9" can be milled out in the center hub easily and you can find a set of them on ebay for about $250. A cheap way to get 17" aluminum rims, and without the stupid center cap, they look pretty good.

I would highly recommend NOT BUYING FROM STOCKTON. They suck. If you want more info on the countless people that have been screwed by them, do a search for Stockton on the PBB, or pm me. I wouldn't buy a valve stem from them.
