It looks like my next tires will require 17" wheels. I've been looking at all of the places that sell the cheap steel versions, but the backspacing seems to be around 4.5"-5" on all of the 17x8 or 17x9 rims which I'm not real fond of.

Anybody know of a place where you can get 17x8's with about 3.5" BS??

I know several of the beadlock companies advertise this backspacing, but I just can't afford $200-$275 a wheel right now to get a beadlock.

I run H2's. cheap and they should do what you want. Look on eBay - here.

Thanks..........but as I stated on my previous post I am looking for wheels with around 3.5" of backspacing........................

I had to actually have my 17's made. I bought mine bofore 17" steel wheels were being mass produced. Anyhow I had mine made with 4.5" of backspacing and they work perfect with my set up. Unless you plan to run a really wide tire there should not be a problem with 4.5" of backspacing.

Oh, and by the way, I have not had any tire rub that I know of. Next set of rims is Walker Evans beadlocks, 17x9 with 4.5" backspacing.

I have the Crager Soft 8s and haven't had any problems rubbing with 39.5x13.5 Iroks

Are they the 17x8's?

Just to clarify, I'm not concerned about the tire rubbing the frame or anything..........I just don't want the outside body of the truck to be the first thing that rubs against a big washout or rut because the tires are tucked in too far.

Try MRW. They make beadlocked and non-beadlocked wheels and can do about any backspacing... I priced a set of steel 16x7 wheels for my trailer and they were $89 each. I have a set of Extreme Duty 17x10 beadlocks with 4.5" back spacing on my K5.

Okay, so what's everyones opinion on this:

Option 1 -
17x8, 4.5" BS
$225 delivered

Option 2 -
17x8, custom BS (probably go with 3-3.5")
$360 + shipping

Sorry 17x9 my tires only stick out 1-2" in the back a bit more in the front but I plan on getting wheel spacers for the rear axle to match the front track width. On the front they stick out about 3" but remember that is with a 13.5" wide tire. They stick out enough to have prevented the body from getting banged up a couple of times

does anyone know if you can get the 315/70/17 BFG all terrain take offs from a hummer dealer for free or cheap? to fit my hopefully soon aquired h2 rims.
that would be cool if they like just stack them out back like a trash pile heheh. and a thanks to those morons who put big rims on hummers so guys like us get cheap rims and tires.

I will be using the same tires as you (39.5x13.50 Iroks).

The Jegs and Summit catalog both show this wheel in 17x9 as having 5" BS, though you state 4.5" BS........can you verify that you have 17x9's with 4.5" backspacing?

As you mentioned my concern is preventing the body from gettng banged up some.
