1966 Plymouth Fury build thread.

I'm not complaining really. I like the heat, but I am not used to it now, or yet? I hope it's like this through September at least...

I complain when it's over 90 and wish I lived somewhere where I was 85 max. But then I wonder if I'd just bitch about it being 85. Haha. I guess maybe now I have my answer. :D

90’s suck balls, 80’s just suck the ball drippins, humidity sucks the whole sack.
Looks real good Rene’...did you have any issues with burn through or not good penetration on those aluminized joints?

Temp topped out at 89F, but was 98F with the humidex. Sticky, but we got a bit of wind later to help. Supposed to be like this at least the next four or five days. Honestly beyond that they are guessing anyways...

I've never had issue with the aluminized coating, I just run it hotter. All the ends were de-burred and hand filed which removed the coating right at the joint though. The bead isn't as pretty or as flat as on the plain steel but penetration was fine. Most joints were very tight, so burn through wasn't an issue except maybe four places where I did have a small gap. The nicest welds were the stainless to aluminized, and the stainless hanger to the stainless muffler.

What’s next on the list?

I know cleaning and painting the underbody and frame is going to take some time.... but what’s big to get it to fire.

No rush by any means! Just getting excited for you!
What a difference between when you got it from Dan till now! Very cool.:waytogo:

On the list to get it to fire.

Bolt up exhaust
Fill rad
Fill power steering res
Fill trans
Temp fuel system.
prime the engine.
Should wire the fans too.

I kinda need to find barbed to AN fittings for the fuel system. I have -8 at the carb, and 5/16" barbed at the mechanical pump. If I can make those connect somehow I have an clean old overflow tank from my Blazer I can use as a temporary fuel tank.

Not that big a list, and nothing expensive on it...I do want to fire it before spending days cleaning the underside. Exhaust is a ten minute job and is "one piece".

On the inside of the car it's been cleaned once. I think a good cleaning a few more times and it will get closer to acceptable. I removed the headliner. It has come a long way since I picked it up...

I have no schedule, and a factor heavily involved in the timing of this all is that my daughter is "due" on August 11. I may or may not get the time I want to work on it. If she doesn't go into labor this weekend I hope to turn the key and make some noise.
