1967 Chevy Impala 327

Finally worked a deal with Pops and now own this ‘67 Impala. Originally a 427 car that now has a small block in it. It’s still sitting in storage, so no work right away. The plan is to leave the patina. Find some good interior to get it recovered. Then, 8.1 swap it and do lots of burnouts.

Is a 427 car special at all? Auto or manual?

There were about 2100 SS427’s made for 67. Those included the 385hp L-36 and the 425hp L-72. Ive only seen 2 true SS427’s around Mi. So yeah Id say they're kinda rare.

It is actually a 327 car as the fender emblem shows. It is an automatic unfortunately, but that’s fine for now.

You know what, now that I’ve done more research, this is definitely a 327 car/badge. Doesn’t change much as I still want to 8.1 swap it lol.

I'm wanting to say the 4bbl 327 was rated at 275 hp in '67. I remember being jealous of a couple local cars with that combo, because my '69 327 was a 2bbl and rated at a paltry 235 hp. Those 275 hp cars were a hotrod to me back then.

("Back then" was the late 90's for me. Not trying to sound older and more experienced than I am, lol)

That car doesn't look to be a real SS427, but a regular SS. The SS427 got a special hood, specific badging and different trim. Now with that said, I'm not sure you couldn't get a regular SS with a 427... but I think it required the 'SS427' trim designation.

Yeah, and well known to be available before and after '67, iirc. Although still much less common.

There used to be a website dedicated to the '67-'69 SS 427 Impalas and there was excellent info and pictures. But that was years ago and I can't find it now.

Worked for a guy when I was 20ish that had a 65 impala SS 396 factory black.

He passed away years later long after I didn’t work for him and I moved to a different province in Canada.

But I always wondered what ever happened to that car!?

I just like Impala’s my grandma had a 64 with the plastic still on the back seat! I was about 14 then but still remember it!

My school teacher had a 69 I almost bought when I was 18, but it was kinda rusty so I passed on it.

Also seen a hometown 63 SS 409 with a dealer installed 427 dual 4 , 4 speed!

When I was around 18 years old. So cool. All original covered in dust sitting in a shop.

that 327 does look original. The right hand A6 compressor is correct, no pcv in valve covers, short water pump, ram horns ( you need to measure the outlet on those) see the bracket at the front of the exhaust manifold in picture ? That is a recall item, GM added that and a cable from bracket to control arm shaft to keep the engine from torquing over when the engine mount failed, which was very common. Wonder what heads are on it ?
