1969 Buick Wildcat Custom build. Sold it.

That's why I'm afraid to sell the trans and tcase I pulled out. I know I'll find some abandoned project for a great price that just needs a transmission and/or tcase and I'll have sold the extras that I had.

I felt the same way with K5 parts until recently. I just decided I'd not buy any other projects than what I already have. And there's still a couple of those I could unload if I'm honest...

I put a bore scope into 2 cylinders. After seafoam and diesel for months. It still would not budge. Bore scope showed really well built up rust on the cylinder walls. It is now a 430 boat anchor.

Kinda sad but you knew all along it was likely

I just envision a pair of hairdryers hanging off of that....

I scored a dual turbo kit for an 8.1 a while back for very little money. Decided I really do not need it. Was talking to a friend with a hot rod shop in California on Christmas. He now owns it for a client of his. It was a lightly used STS setup, but I never found it on their website.

I did make a nice penny on the sale.

Well this kind of sucks but is exciting at the same time.

Engine finally went pop and rolled over 3 times. I can hear the scraping noise when the rings get into the rust portion of the cylinders. There is also a smooth section for about and 1/8 of a rotation. So now I am going to test the starter. If it spins and builds oil pressure, I will buy plugs for it and pour gas into the carb.

Stay tuned.

Clamped the starter into the vice. Hooked the jump box to it. Threw my remote start switch on it. Click but no engage or spin. Noticed the power lug bolt going into the motor is backed out. Tightened it up and spin, spin, spin. So I guess its back it into the barn time.

When I unstuck the 261 in my 57 Pontiac it took a lot of BS to get it to finally roll over. "Deep Creep" in all the cylinders, 5 days straight. Starting on the second day I put a 4 foot bar on the front damper and pushed and pulled a little to see if there was any movement. If not, more penetrant, lather, rinse, repeat. On the fifth day it moved a little.

I kept working it back and forth, but could only get it to move 355 degrees in either direction. I could not get it to roll over, and I didn't want to force anything...so I pulled the head. A little mousey had wriggled in through an open valve and left some seeds on top of #2. The seeds came up under the flat part of the head and kept the engine from rolling over. I got a good look at the cylinder walls at least and there was still a decent cross hatch and no ridge at the top.

My issue is sticky valvetrain. I really should pull and dis-assemble the head and get rid of all the sticky, gummy stuff that used to be oil and re-assemble. Same for the lifters...sticky. This has given me some wild fluctuations in compression as stuff sticks and unsticks randomly.

Looked all over for the dip stick to check the oil. Finally found it low on the left side. It was about 10 quarts over full of brand new oil.???????? then I realized the tube portion is missing for the dip stick. Starter feed purple wire was cut. Power cable to the starter is gone. Fixed and added what it needed. Went to crank it over with high hopes. Do dice. Starter will not work with the key. Lights work. Power windows do not. Hooked up the remote start switch to crank it over at least. The starter looked like the bendix was engaging the start gear when it was on the bench. Not enough to engage the ring gear. Out it comes.

I still have that 430 builder engine..

I might have a 430 running engine. The starter gave me fits. Put a used solenoid on the starter and it still did not have enough throw. Pulled the starter for my 68 boat out, it is the same one. Engine turns over nicely. No weird noises. Bout $20 worth of spark plugs and just put them in. Still turn over nice. So now to fire it up.

Picked up a coil. Went to install it and realized it was in the wrong one in the box. Got the correct one and a set of points and condenser. Couldn't get the gap set on the points due to the mounted condenser. I hate those things. Finally got it nailed.

Squirted some gas in the car. It fire then back fired. Check plug wire routing. 2 and 4 were reversed, my bad. Tried again and it fired and idled a little until I gave it a little throttle. Fired it again and let it sit and idle. One lifter ticking slightly. Finally got it to where I could run the throttle up a little very slowly. I guess I should drain the 1992 gas out of it. Yes, that it what it was running on.

Video is slowly loading from my phone.
