The wiring on my truck is a disaster. I’m ripping it out right now and ran across something I need clarification on. This box is the old, external voltage regulator, right?

Looks like two wires on its plug were cut (black & blue) and two are intact (red & white). I’m guessing this was done when the P.O. did a 1 wire alt swap. Anyone familiar with this mod?

The plug is not connected at all, but it may have fallen off. The tabs are gone. Should it have been connected? It’s all coming out anyway, I’m just wondering if this was why the battery wasn’t charging the last few times I drove it.

really none of those wires are needed. Red is batt hot, and tapped off the line feeding into bulkhead connector. The brown is indicator lamp or volt meter. Blue is/was field terminal on old alt. Yellow? White? Is the reference voltage back to regulator
