can anyone lend me some measurements from their truck as to where the K5 badging is to be drilled on the front fenders? Previous owner has these fenders drilled for 70 camaro super sport badges. Thanks

Sorry it's not a great picture, but this is where the emblems were on my '72 K5 I had ..factory location..
(photo was taken after some asswipe stole both doors, for insurane purposes)..1972 K5 Blazer 4x4 003.jpg

Best I've found so far courtesy of 69-72trucks.com. This still does not give me an exact location. I may just wing it since the fenders are already drilled improperly

First I've heard of stolen doors! That's terrible

Yeah it was February 14th,1983(Valentine's day!)--

I was living in Fitchburg MA in a bad area at the time, with many low life's not from the USA lurking about after dark --the night before we got over a foot of snow too, whoever took the doors must have wanted them pretty bad !..there was footprints all around the truck in the snow, but nothing the cops could use as evidence..

What gets me,is I had just bought 4 new Cooper Discoverer tires ,had a tool box with at least $300 bucks worth of tools lying on the floor on the passenger side, along with new tire chains, and a custom made speaker box and amp I had installed just weeks earlier..evidently they only wanted the doors,or were scared off before they could grab the rest of the stuff--I was surprised they didn't just hot wire it and steal the truck whole..

I walked out the door to go to work, and my jaw hit the snow when I saw the truck sitting there with no doors!..
I had to call the cops, wait for them to show up,write a report,etc..didn't get to work till 11 am..
The doors were no real prize either--both had been patched and bondo'd on the bottom 6" and were painted in flat black primer..

I drove it to work in 18 degree temps with snow still blowing around, froze my a$$ off!--I didn't get a mile from my apartment before a cop pulled me over and said "you cant drive around like that"--I explained how the doors were stolen, and he called in on his radio, and confirmed I wasn't lying, and said "well--I guess as long as you have seat belts on you'll be ok"..

I had to bring the truck to a body shop the next day, contact my insurance co,etc..they had the truck almost two months,it took them almost a month to find two doors that were not rotted junk, off a pickup truck, and cut the window frames off, then hunt for the seals and pieces needed to get them to seal to the topper..

They could only find one Cheyenne door panel in OK at some dealership, none left in the USA otherwise,so I had to settle for one,and the other door with a plastic door panel from a pickup..

I had to get a ride to my parents house 70 miles away and get my '69 GTO out of storage, and drive that thru the remainder of the winter--and it sucked BAD..that car would not go an inch forward on snow or ice, only sideways..
I ended having to put studded snows on it ,plus use chains when we got a heavy snowfall, and it was still a cripple..
Hated to get it all salty too,but it was my only other vehicle at the time..almost totaled it several times in the snow too....

Had the same problem with my Buick grand national in the snow but that almost seems like an inside job...

No,I didn't have anything to do with the doors dissapearing--other vehicles in the neighborhood had been stolen too,or had their tires & rims stripped, stereos stolen,etc..
I was lucky they did not just take the whole truck..
Not too long after that happened,my brother heard someone snooping around his car one night--two guys were looking in his Monte Carlo ,and he had some tapes lying on the console, and tools in the car..

When it appeared they were attempting to unlock the door with a slim jim,he went in his room, got his .357 Magnum out, loaded it,and opened the door--and he told them to "screw"..one of them started walking towards him and said "what are you gonna do about it if I don't" ?...in a arrogant fashion..

When my brother raised the gun up and they saw it,and fired twice into the air, they set a new land speed record for the human 1/4 mile!..we had no further trouble after that!..but the cops did show up,and asked if we had a gun,or heard any shots,we said "no,it was probably kids lighting off firecrackers ".....
I don't think they believed us,they said someone called saying they saw a guy with a gun fire off two shots, but they didn't press the issue any further, thank God!..
