A few weeks ago a buddy at work asked me if I needed any parts for my 70 SWB 2wd C10.
I ended up with a whole truck.
Goal number one get it together and driving. Could be while or could bring it in the garage this winter, not 100% sure yet.

Here is what I got
1972 C10 4x4 Chassis 350/th350/205
Really clean white cab and front clip
Box of boxes from at least 3 different trucks.
Everything is here just needs some TLC and bolts. I even think I know where a white bed is if decide to make it pretty

Right now the idea is 5.3L and hydro sm465.
If all goes as planned I'd love to have it lifted on one ton axles also.
I do have all the parts for hydro conversion already.
I do need a sm465 trans?
I need to do a little more research on mating the sm465/205. I want to say this 205 is a 27spline input?

465's were 10 spline output (early) or 32 spline output (late). If you use the early trans than you only need an "adapter" coupler...

10 spline to 27 spline.

ORD has them. Maybe others, I don't know.

Late trans will require a a bunch more work. 32 splines are big bearing input, so machine work and a different input shaft in the 205 would be necessary.

Power washed it!
Just sorting boxes and trying to gather parts. Once the other truck is back in one piece I'll tackle it a lot harder.

I'll follow along, for what they usually go for it's probably easiest to watch for a complete 465/205. I've seen them as cheap as $100, back when I had no money of course

Subscribed for future LS swap and manual transmission :waytogo:

If you have any questions about that Im just finishing up my other truck up with a LS/hydro sm465 combo.

Picking up a 79 sm465/205 combo this weekend. A few more than $100, still fair and local

The old 10 spline SM465's were noted for having the output shaft splines get chewed or "hooked",and it'll eventually wear out the coupling to the transfer case...

The T-cases for a TH350 had 27 splines and some during those early years used a bearing in the adapter with a splined inner bore as the coupling...as stated above, they now sell 10 to 27 spline couplings so you can use a transfer case that was behind a TH350 on an early SM465..

I know many 4x4's back in that vintage had C-10 badges, but in reality it is a K-10..

Did you get a clean title with the truck ?...here,that is the first thing you must have,if you plan to ever register it..
I know guys that built some sweet 71 & 72 4x4s and found out years later when they were done building them, the sales taxes that were unpaid and the "clean title" had liens on it--one of them had to pay over a grand to get a title in his name, and it was quite a hassle..the other guy "sold" the truck to a friend in NH,where trucks over a certain age need no title, who got it titled there, then bought it back from him..

Yup I know to make sure he coupling isn't shot.

Yes I have a title and tag for the truck. It was it was titled recently.

Yes I do realize it's not a "C10". In reality yes it's should be called a K10. I just like to go off what the title and badges on the actual truck say which is C10

Well this truck didn't make it much farther. It's been sold. Parted some of it out and made enough to buy a complete running. 1971 4 speed 4x4 k10

Will post pics and new build thread for the 71 when I get some time.
