1/2 ton status
Hey guys. I really hate to sell this one, but I have to. Moving plus economics forces me to sell my favorite truck. Its a 1972. I bought the body/frame from a CK5 member a couple years ago. The tub is solid, a little rust in the floor on pssenger side by yur feet, but minor. The quarters aren't real straight, but they aren't rusty and no major dents... a little bodywork would have them looking good. Truck comes with new front fenders, tailgate and front/rear bumpers, all still in the boxes. Orig tailgate also included. No top for the truck, I didn't get one with it.
Dana 60 front, 14blt rear. Bearings/seals all replaced on the 60 (installed by local shop, kits purchased from Shakerbuilt) and new kingpins installed. 14blt has had a disk brake conversion added and new spring pads added for proper spring width. Both axles have been cleaned and painted in POR-15. The rear axle needs a little touch up to look perfect due to welding, as pics show. Otherwise axles are in great shape. 456 gears.
Tires are 39.5" TSL's, zero miles. Wheels are USA6x6 double beadlocks with custom rockrings (drawn myself). Again, zero miles.
Springs are 8" lift springs frm SkyJacker. Originally purchased for 1973+ models, custom spring mounts were made to mount these springs to this frame (req'd in front only). ORD greasabl shackles mounted to front. Zero miles on springs/shackles.
Truck also comes with ORD crossover steering and West Texas Offroad hydro-assist steering, as shown in the pics. Have the ram shown mounted to the D60 for Hydro-assist steering using a custm made mounting ring. I removed the caps from the ram the other day for pics and noticed the ram was starting to rust already. Functionally fine, but might need cleaned up to look perfect.
Truck includes ORD engine crossmember.
Zero rates all around.
As mentioned, also includes new fenders, tailgate, bumpers. Doors aren't cherry, but are solid. Frame is solid and rust free. Rear frame stubs were cut off before I bought truck, but not even sure it hinders ability to mount the rear bumper. I had gotten around to looking closely at that yet. Also have orig front grill, headlight bezels, chrome. Seats (2 front buckets and 1 rear bench) that came with truck are included, but weren't orig (were welded in place) and are in pretty rough shape upholstery wise. I planned on replacing them.
Truck does not include engine or transmission.
My father and I started this project about a year and a half ago, but things came up and it had to be put on hold. Since then my father passed away suddenly, my economics have taken a hit, and Im having to move out of state at the end of this month. This is one of the last things I have to sell, Ive been procrastinating because I hate selling this thing so much. But I have to. So someone please give this truck a good home, finish it like it deserves, and you will have one really nice first gen.
