1972 Cheyenne/20

Found this truck back in 2012. I remember thinking I’d give anything to have a truck like that. Since then I’ve built multiple trucks and never considered them to match up to the one I had dreamed about.

Kept in contact with the owner after buying some parts for other builds. The 1972 blazer I just built also was found in his collection of parts.
Took this pic the day I picked up what I thought was going to be a great blazer project

The truck could tell some stories and I’m ready to begin my story with it! Background story is this truck was built to sled pull. It’s had a 6bt and then a 4bt for while.

Original olive green and white Cheyenne super K20. Had a frame off restoration in 2010. Truck is to this day completely rust free and very clean underneath! Paint job could be better and it has it share of dents and scars but it’s a truck!

I haven’t taken many pictures yet. Still tinkering with things everyday to get the truck the way I want it.

Truck now has a 5.3L. Has a stage 3 BTR truck cam, it’s carbureted. I’ll be changing it back to fuel injection sometime soon.

Truck is set up with 1 ton axles already
Dana 60 front 4:10 with tru-trac
6” lift springs
Cross over steering

Rear is a Eaton 10.5 14 bolt with a Detroit locker
Shackle flip, 2” lift springs

Ride is super stiff. Thinking I’ll find some stock springs and zero rates for rear. I have a B-52 kit and 52” springs that I may put up front.

Driveline is hydro Sm465/NP205. Also has a Ranger Overdrive unit. 1:27 torque splitter

The skinny old man tires had to go. I ordered the same set up of BFG KM2s in 35s. Also ordered 16x8 steel wheels powder coated white.

this truck is sweet!!!

I hate rattles. Hopefully this helps. Also decided to paint the door panels black. They White was already painted over the factory green panels and was starting to fail. F79FA523-64A4-4325-BC03-358AB4404BBE.jpeg
Also did the inside of the doors.

Looks great! I hope that you post up what difference the insulation makes.

Will do. Just finished that up tonight. I drive it everyday I’m sure it will help. Going to do floor also when I put new carpet it it soon.

Nice! I did the firewall on the inside, the floor and most of the back wall of the cab in my '70 with Dynamat. I like it, but I didn't do anything to the doors, so it will be neat to see your results going at it in this order.
