So I ended up with a 72 K5 blazer after doing some trading. I traded my favorite truck 1972 K20 Cheyenne super so I could have a more family friendly cruiser and still have a truck to beat around in. The deal included getting my 1971 K10 back that I had built a few years ago. Good deal, money wise but I know I’ll miss my K20.
Here’s a few pics of the day I made the deal.
I think this was tire blowout number 1........of 5 made for a long trip.
My load coming home
Finally home to meet the crusty blazer which is turning into a parts rig slowly
So far I’ve done minor clean up things. Swapped to some 15x8 white steel wheels. Removed the 2” body lift, new body mounts with 1” pucks.
I enjoy driving it. Had the top off for a few weeks. Here’s a picture dump for now. I’ll go over my plans with it soon, still a little indecisive of a few things.
Top came back off. Sand blasted the roll bar and threw some fresh paint on it. Was never mounted very correct so I tossed all new hardware and grade 8 washers on all the mounting points. Very solid now.
Currently regretting thinking I could repair some spots on the this top and hatch
Might be the last nice week of the year so I drive this thing everyday. Until it ran out of gas lol fixed the gauge tonight
Top is done! Filled, primed, texture coated and painted. Might not be perfect but looks much better. Hatch is next. Have a bunch of seals and a few things coming from motorcityk5 then too will go back on for winter
