Anybody know what those cone shaped posts at the rear of the bed rails are officially called?

I am assuming that they are hard top alignment posts? :dunno:

That's their purpose, what Chevy chose to call them I dunno. lol.

I have been painting the truck, it's at work right now. I think there is some kind of warning sticker in the back, I'll take a look when I go back down there.

Thanks. I am trying to find out what they are called so I know what to ask for when I look for them. I only had one and it's lost somewhere in my garage.

Haven't seen them on eBay for a while but have been on there.
Did you try looking up on gmpartswiki.com

Try LMC for the pictures would be easy if not a little time consuming

Part # is 340034 Guide top locating. 16.585

Same part from 73 to 91
Didn't see a pic in the 73-78 catalog. The pic is from the 86-91 catalog

They cancelled the order due to part no longer available

How big is the hole in the bedrail where this post goes on your rig?

The hole in my rails is way too big for this small cone (I found the one in the garage)

I have both. The bigger hole was for the hidden bolt from underneath.

Mind you my quarters are off an 81 blazer but

believe they were set up the same.

Thanks for pic! I need to have another look...I may just need to drill the holes.

Wonder how important those guides are? I had a pretty hard time lining up the top holes and the bed rail holes...I only got 6 of the 10 bolts in

I also need that black piece you have on your tailgate...the glass guide I guess it is

Interesting that the guide hole is off center from the cage nut holes...it is off center on my top as well
