I just recently purchased a 1973 c20 pickup. It has the original 454, th400 and 14bolt rear end. It has 79k original miles. Truck is in really good shape. I will be using it for towing my blazer to local parks. Any recommendations on mods to make it a better tow truck. I already ordered a heavy duty trans cooler. Thanks guys.

with that low a miles and the good parts that are already there,i think you are set.tranny cooler will help.everythign else sounds just what you need for a good tow truck.congrats on the purchase.

Thanks, I was surprised at the mileage and condition on the truck. I Just wish it was a 4x4. It's ok though, I want it as a tower

yeah you already have pretty much the beefy parts you need for towing.its probly better its not 4x4 as then youd be lookin to mod and wheel it as well.haha.

The block should be a four bolt main I hope. I want to look up a good cam, intake and carb set up to improve power and torque for those long uphill tows
